Today, we’re looking at how to make money playing online blackjack through basic strategies. Blackjack is a game where the house deals the player two starting cards to reach a total card of 21 or close to 21 by taking “hits” (extra cards). At the end of the game, if the player hasn’t reached 21, but the value of the player’s cards is more than those of the dealer, he wins. But if while taking hits, the sum value of his cards exceeds 21, he automatically loses. Sounds simple, right? It is, but let’s take a look at some basic strategies that can improve your chances of going online, playing blackjack, and coming away with some money.

#1 When to double down

Most poker games will allow you to “double down” in a given hand. Doubling down is to double the amount of money you could win on just one more card; the down-side is that you can only accept one more card. The best double down strategy is to indicate to the dealer that’s what you want to do when your cards equal 9, 10, or 11 – particularly 11 – and when the dealer’s card is low. In this type of game, you have a good chance of reaching 21 or near to it and a good chance of beating the dealer’s hand and coming away with twice the winnings.

#2 Splitting eights or aces

The blackjack rules state that a player can split his hand into two hands if dealt with two identical cards. The two hands can then be played simultaneously for winnings or losses. Splitting can be an easy way to improve your position in a game. A pair of aces should always be split, and a pair of eights should be split if the dealer’s card is equal to 9, 10 or an ace. On aces, splitting gives you two hands to play with starting from a value of one on each, and on eights, depending on the dealer’s hand, it makes you less of an underdog than playing a single hand with a hard 16.

#3 Keep counting

Card counting is legal, provided no equipment is involved. By counting cards, you can keep track of the ratio of high to low cards. It is somewhat of an art and a science but can be mastered through practice. There are many ways to count cards in blackjack, all of which are a great way of increasing your odds of winning.
