Casinos historically have an advantage over their users. Casinos operate a well-designed model fueled to extract revenue from their players. Online casinos are no different from their land-based counterparts in this regard. All the odds presented by online casino betting come with a baked-in margin. This margin guarantees that the house profits from the bet regardless of its outcome. A margin accounts for the degree of the house edge.  Thus, a margin can vary from casino to casino and even among different games within the same casino. To overcome this disadvantage, the house has bettors, who possess skillfully crafted strategies and tactics to overcome. Successful strategies employed by bettors are called betting systems.

Some betting systems seem to work better on certain games than others. Each betting system presents a unique and systematic approach to organizing one’s bankroll. A punter’s system is usually designed to maximize profits and minimize potential losses. Players must make adjustments to their bet size depending on whether they are using a positive or negative progressive system.

Positive Progressive Betting Systems

Progressive betting systems recommend that players increase the size of their stake when they win a bet. Consequently,  a punter must decrease the size of their stake when they experience a loss. This strategy is generally more favored than negative progressive betting systems.

1. Paroli Betting System

The Paroli System has been around for over 100 years. It is also sometimes referred to as the ‘Reverse Martingale System’. This positive betting system works under the assumption that both wins and losses come in streaks. The Paroli system is applied to grow profits by taking advantage of winning streaks. In this betting system, the player is instructed to double his stake in the event of a win. Additionally, the player is to revert back to the original stake in the event of a loss. In this manner, the bettor is likely to amplify the impact of his wins while sustaining much smaller losses. The Paroli system can be applied to any online casino betting game. However, the Paroli system seems to have extremely positive results when applied to roulette, baccarat, craps. Additionally, with a few minor adjustments, the same approach works for blackjack as well.

2. Reverse D’Alemabert Betting System

This system, as its name suggests, is the direct opposite of its counterpart the D’Alemabert betting system. The reverse D’Alemabert system is based on the assumption that both successes and failures will ultimately balance out. The reverse D’Alemabert system recommends that a player decreases their stake by one unit after a loss. Consequently, the player must also increase their stake by one unit after a win. Since the altercations made to the bank are negligible, this system works with even a small bankroll. This betting system is most effective when applied to Blackjack, online Roulette, and Craps.

Negative Progressive Betting Systems

These betting systems recommend that players decrease the size of their stake when they win a bet. Alternatively, players must increase the size of their stake when they experience a loss. A Negative system only works on larger, more flexible bankrolls. A negative progressive betting system is not recommended for beginners or players on a losing streak.

1. Martingale Betting System

The Martingale system is prevalent and one of the most simple betting systems because of its simplicity and effectiveness. The first rule of this system instructs the bettor to double bets during a loss. The second rule requires the bettor to revert to their base stake when they win a bet. This system seems to work best on table games such as blackjack and baccarat, and dice games like craps.

2. Labouchere Betting System

The Labouchere betting system works of the following principle. ‘If a player wins more often than they lose, then they will eventually be able to recover losses from losing bets – by winning a smaller number of bets.’ This system is relatively more complicated than some other betting systems. However, it still happens to be the most flexible of them all. This system allows bettors to form their own sequences based on the final goal amount that they aspire to reach. This system is most effective on baccarat,  blackjack, and Craps.

Although betting systems are not a permanent strategy, they can definitely be profitable in the short term to help make smarter betting decisions. Bettors will have to increase or decrease their bank size in the event of a win or loss. Thus, it is crucial to always evaluate the size of your bankroll first before selecting which strategy is most appropriate.
